Canal Balcony View in Venice

We will be in Venice on October 18 leaving 20. We have reservations at Centauro Hotel. I asked for a room with balcony overlooking a canal booked thru booking.com. I confirmed with hotel overnight and learned we have a balcony but no canal view. At this late date, anyone have suggestions for a very quick switch?

That is going to be tough at this late date, and probably expensive. Hotel American Dinesen in Dorsoduro, a hotel I like, has a Triple Superior room with canal view balcony available for those 2 nights, but it is €807-855 per night.

You can search on booking.com for “balcony and canal view” and get quite a few results for your dates, but many are apartments or small guesthouses, not hotels. Try it and see what you can find.

Judithann, hope you find what you're looking for!
As an aside, the only room that hotel has with a terrace overlooking a canal is the suite; likely their most expensive option. If you booked a "superior double with terrace", it offers "picturesque views of rooftops." Superior rooms "with view" offer canal views but from the windows, not a terrace.

Are there any independent bnb? My daughter is a very light smoker and an outside area would be excellent.

If the purpose of a balcony is to provide an outdoor space for your daughter to smoke, that terrace does appear to meet the need (unlike a regular balcony, which often is too small to provide adequate space away from the room).

However, you should ask the hotel if smoking on the terrace is OK; all the 3d-party sites I checked say that Hotel Centauro is “smoke free”. See, for example, Tripadvisor and booking.com.

In my conversation with them, I asked if the balcony was large enough for my daughter to smoke. They said you could bring chairs from inside to sit out. Thanks all. Getting nervous and excited. Just found out AA doesn’t offer free wifi. That’s really cheap. Any suggestions?

I wonder how "light" a smoker still needs a balcony for the habit rather than going out into the street. Nevertheless I hope that she pays attention to other people opening their doors to get fresh air and the views and the atmosphere and get a face full of smoke to say nothing of the smoke getting into their rooms...

As the Centauro bills itself as smoke free, when the smoke drifts into your room might they charge you for a "smoker clean"? Many hotels have cards in the rooms warning of that, often with a 200€ or 250€ charge.

I hope you find what you are looking for and don't get into too much trouble there. Good luck...

AA as in American Airlines? If your device needs to be in airplane mode during the flight, I'm not sure how an eSim would help...
