Hello there! I am planning a trip to Rome in June. I already visited St. Peter's Basilica in 2008 and climbed the dome so I am not interested in climbing it again this time although I do plan to visit the church because I am taking my mom (who is not up to the climb). I remember there being a great gift shop on the way back down. Does anybody know if you can you access that gift shop without climbing the dome? Or would I need to climb the dome to get to it? I appreciated getting a medallion from that gift shop because it said "Vaticano" on the back and would like to purchase another one.

The gift shop main entrance is on ground level right next to the basilica. You don't need to go through the dome.

If you are planning to go to the Vatican Museums, there are several gift shops there.
