Can you Mountain Bike in Cinque Terre?

Are there bike rentals?

This question has been asked here before, I can't remember anyone posting that mountain bikes are allowed on the most popular trails, the ones discussed here.

What about horses? Can you go on a Horse Ride on the trails, city to city?

I don't know for sure but can't remember anyone here (in the last several years) ever saying they rode a horse on any of the "main" Cinque Terre trails.

Perhaps you can clarify exactly which trails you're asking about?

Thanks for the clarification. The Via dell'Amore, connecting Riomaggiore and Manarola, is flat and less than 1 km in length, taking only 20 to 30 minutes to walk. Perhaps someone will let us know if they've ever seen a horse or mountain bike on the Via dell'Amore? It seems unlikely and unnecessary.

No horses or mountain bikes on the cinque terra trails.

Francis,

I agree with the last reply - no horses or mountain bikes on the trails (with good reason)!

The trails from Monterosso to Vernazza and then Corniglia are very narrow and involve a significant climb and then descent. The trails are very narrow in many places, and Mountain Bikes would be a hazard to hikers. One problem with horses is that they leave "residue" and since this is a National Park, someone would have to clean that up.

There are "Wardens" at the entrance to each trail, and I really doubt that they would allow either horses or Mountain Bikes.

Finally, the locations in the C.T. are not "cities" but rather small villages, so they don't have a full range of tourist facilities. You may be able to rent Bikes in Monterosso, but I've never seen any rentals there?
