Does anybody know if you can leave your bags at the checked baggage at termini train station in Rome? We have to check out and then are going to the Pope audience and then catch a train to Florence, any suggestions? Thanks!

Don't you love Google Earth Street View? I was able to type in the address and BOOM there's a photo of that laundromat with that sign in the window. What a great travel tool.

There is a free bag check located at the lower right facade of St. Peter's Basilica. You might just take it along with you.

If you're headed to a Papal Audience with bags, it's MUCH more difficult to try and carry them in. Security is on a higher alert than usual (ok - that's not saying much I know) because the Pope will be riding the Pope-mobile among the crowd. I've been turned away on these days for carrying my motorcycle helmet... So I'd probably try and leave them at your hotel - or at Termini - before I'd chance getting all the way to St. Peter's and being turned away. Your entry into St. Peter's Square - with luggage - will probably depend on WHICH guard is manning the X-Ray machine. Rules tend to be enforced rather randomly. Good Luck!
