Can you buy "Guided Tour" Borghese Gallery tickets just to get in, then explore on your own?

The basic admission tickets are sold out for the day we can go, but there are still Guided Tour (Italian) tickets available on the Borghese Gallery website. We don't speak enough Italian to understand a tour (and we don't like following guides in museums anyhow).

But does anyone know if we could buy those tickets just to get in, and then tour the museum on our own? Or is that forbidden / frowned upon?

Thank you!

Assuming your tour is during the regular, public visiting hours, it shouldn't be a problem. Just tell the guide you are going to see the gallery on your own so he or she doesn't wait for you.

You may be fine

When you arrive, you collect an audio device to hear the guide. At the end of the tour, you hand the audio device back to the guide.

Navigating this transaction of getting the audio device and handing it back will be the hard part.

Another option is to turn off your audio and walk around with the group.

So check when you get your audio device to see if you can ditch it and just view the museum.

We did the English tour in Jan this year.
