I need help deciding on which apartment my husband and I should stay in. One is 5 minutes away from the Colosseum while the other one is 5 minutes away from Piazza Navona. Is staying in one better than the other? The one nearby Piazza Navona will end up being 72Euro more expensive total. I'm not sure if it's worth the difference in cost considering both location may be pretty central to sightseeing.
I'd really appreciate any feedback/help in making this decision. Thanks.
Navona! The Colosseum really is on the edge of things. It's a long walk downtown, and up (uphill, that is) back. Especially in the heat. Navona, now, is in the very center of most of the sights you'll want to see. Of course, you'd have to walk to the Colosseum. Actually, we're staying in an apartment in Navona this summer for 8 days. Take a taxi to the Colosseum, then walk backwards to Navona. BTW, you may find it easier to find more deli's in the Navona area to take food home for dinner.
I agree with Dennis- the area around PIazza Navona is very charming I think and worth the little bit of extra money to be central to that. The area around the Colosseum is more city-like to me with more traffic,
The two previous posters pegged it. The Piazza Navona area is much more charming than the Colosseum, especially in the evening.
Any suggestions from the group of places to stay in the Piazza Navona area for around $100 euros a night for a double with bath in March 2011.
The Colosseum area is a little out of the way to most of the things you will want to experience with the exception of the Forum. The Piazza Navona neighborhood is much better situated and nicer too. Figure in the extra money you will spend on transportation and the Piazza Navona will win out.
Piazza Navona. We love that area. We have an apartment near there this summer... I can't wait!
Seems like Piazza Navona wins (hands down!!!). Thank you for all the replies. I appreciate it. I'll definitely book the apartment near Piazza Navona.
Another vote for Piazza Navona... Plus, you'll be close to the Vatican and St. Peters if that is of interest to you.
Definitely pay the extra $$ for the Piazza Navona area. We stayed in an apartment there last September & the location was perfect. We really enjoyed walking around that area at night with a gelato! Have a wonderful trip.
yep Piazza Navona or Campo di Fiori!
