Can I resell excess tickets to Vatican tour, Colosseum entry, Borghese?

I purchased 8 tickets for an official Vatican tour and was asked for the names of each person in the party. Now 4 people have backed out of the trip. Will the names of each person in the party be checked, or could I resell the tour to 4 new people in line and take them along with us to pick up the tickets?

I also purchased 8 tickets for a Colosseum entry (no tour) and only had to give one name. Again, could I sell the 4 extra tickets to someone in line and have them enter with our group?

I called to reserve 8 tickets to the Borghese with a Roma Pass and was only given a reservation number. Can I take in 4 people from the line who have Roma passes? This will probably be our first use of the pass so entry to the museum should be free. Will they charge the 2 Euro per person fee for the phone reservation?

The 4 who aren't going will pay for the tickets but I would like to save them the cost if someone else can use the tickets.

Thanks for your feedback!

Ask yourself if you would be willing to take the chance of buying tickets from a stranger - tickets that are in someone else's name. You could give it a shot but don't get your hopes up. Good luck.

Just donate them give 'em way if possible instead of asking for money for them which could be awkward given there are a lot of touts around the Vatican and the Colosseum

Thanks for your responses. I believe that I have to show my reservation and enter with the group of 8 to pick up the tickets. I would be willing to join a group that way and pay the face value of the tickets rather than wait in a long line!

We made a 5 p.m. Borghese reservation for the three of us, but ended up being unable to go then. We spent that morning visiting the Borghese Gardens. While there, we stopped at the gallery and picked up our tickets, went back outside and I was able to sell two of them to a couple of young women who had been unable to get tickets. I sold them for face value and the women were very glad to have them. The tickets were generic with no names attached. Since there are a finite number of tickets sold for each time slot, I can't imagine that anyone checks your name off a list to enter the gallery.
