We are going from Venice to Ferrara, but want to spend time in Padua on the way. Or, would it be better to just go to Ferrara (we have 2 nights there) and day trip to Padua?

Yes, there's a bag storage office at platform 1. Rick's book says that they close at 6:00 p.m., so confirm timing when you leave the bags. Photo ID required.

Another option would be to visit Padua as a day trip from Venice, an easy 30 minute train ride.
If you have the time you may consider visiting Ravenna from Ferrara.

If you plan to visit the beautiful Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, make sure you book your tickets in advance!
