can I get soy milk in italy?

I am lactose intolerant and will be traveling to Italy in the fall. Is soy milk something that is available in the hotels, coffee shops etc?

Michelle, I too am lactose intolerant. When we were in Milan and Madrid i did not find soy milk but brought those pills. You know, I never had to use it! The way they process their milk in Europe must be different. I was able to consume my Cafe con leche without a problem.

Ironically when I went to London, I DID have a problem. But not in Italy or Spain.

I doubt you will find soy milk anywhere in Italy. I also think you will be alright having the milk in your coffee. Like in France, alot of the milk isn't even refrigerated. I believe it is irradiated so it has a longer shelf life. I love to drink milk but their milk tastes vile. It is great in food or coffee only.

We only saw small containers in the Grocery stores but I don't think you'll find many coffee/espresso shops with soy milk.

We always rent apartments so we have a refrigerator.

The good news is, though, that some places have soy gelato!
