I want to purchase the 3-day public transport ticket for buses and the metro in Rome. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase this ticket at the airport or do I need to go into Termini? Thanks if you can answer!
I am not sure if you can purchase at the airport but it doesn't make any difference. The pass is not good for the Leonard Express so you can buy it in Termini if it is more convenient.
Actually, I'm planning to take the FM1 train, not the Leonardo Express. I realize the ticket can't be use on these trains -- I was just hoping to buy the pass at the airport so I could use the buses as soon as I disembark the train. Guess I'll just find out when I arrive in Rome on Wed.
I purchased my FM1 5.50 ticket from the newspaper shop in the train station at FCO, maybe you can buy the metro pass from one of those shops. Report back if you can buy a metro pass at the FCO station area.
JUST TO UPDATE: I was able to purchase train tickets and 3-day passes for the metro and buses at the Fiumincino train station. Train tickets can be purchased at the Trenitalia ticket counter or the self-service kiosks. Metro/bus tickets can be purchased at the Tabacchi shop in the rail station. This worked out really well for me -- within minutes of arriving in Rome, I got everything I needed at the airport station for our entire week in Italy.
