Can I buy a Rail Pass once I arrive in Italy?

I leave on 10/15 and don't have enough time to wait for it to arrive by mail.

Where would I buy it at if it's possible?

What kind of rail pass are you speaking of? If it's a Eurail pass, you can pick one up in Europe, but only at a limited number of Eurail aide offices...generally in the larger city main train stations in Italy. However, they'll be 20 per cent more expensive, roughly, than what you'll pay here. In any event, if you're travelling Italy, a Eurail pass is usually not worth the cost, with point-to-point tickets being so inexpensive. Any of the premium trains will require additional reservations fees, on top of your Eurail pass, adding to the cost.

Besides the fact that with a pass you will have to pay for reservations for trains that require them, many routes in Italy offer Amica fares (20% discount). If any of the allotted seats are still available, you can get Amica fares up until midnight of the day before departure. Buy point-to-point tickets a few days in advance and ask for Amica fares.

Thank you all very much for the information. Amica fares sound like the way to go for me.
