Can I bring home wild boar salami and pecorino cheese?

We are in Italy now and purchased small amounts of these two food items with intention to bring home. Both are vacuum packed then I started wondering if it was allowed and am finding a lot of conflicting answers.
can someone please give me the right answer? maybe Roberto?

Wifi is so spotty where we are now, searching for info if difficult
and if it is illegal or will be confiscated I'd rather eat it now then lose it.
thanks so much for any help

Meat, milk, egg, poultry, and their products, including products made with these materials, such as dried soup mix or bouillon, are either prohibited or restricted from entering the United States, depending on the types of animal diseases which occur in the country of origin. Fresh (chilled or frozen), dried, cured, and fully cooked meat is generally prohibited from most countries.

I'd eat the salami and declare the cheese that you are bringing home.

One of the worst days of my life was at Los Angeles Intl. airport, returning home from Italy with a beautiful, cured hock of smoked boar from Tuscany, and having the customs official unceremoniously take it out of our bag and throw it into the trash can. My husband and I were beside ourselves and I'm surprised we didn't get pulled aside and frisked the way we reacted! Lesson learned...eat your salami before you go home.

I have brought jerky, dried meats, cheeses etc. - all back into the US.
They were vacuum sealed in heavy plastic and it was not a problem.
I declared it when entering the US.

But - this was a few years ago. In reading the link given above, it looks like
today it may be prohibited.
I have seen signs in lots of markets and shops in Italy that state they package
the food items appropriately for taking back into the US.

LOL Roberto you always make me laugh!

We absolutely loved your home town Florence and really enjoyed our days in Tuscany- the landscapes did remind me a lot of Sonoma and Contra Costa county where I grew up.
We are in Assisi now- crazy busy this afternoon and we really were not in the mood for that but has quieted down now later at night- hope early am is quiet as well. We will visit Basilica early then take a drive to Spello to avoid mid day crowds again. Then get rid of car and on to Roma!

so apparently fish sauce is ok but better left in the checked luggage. Thanks, Roberto - a fun article.
