Hello,
I’m planning on visiting Italy in October 2019, however I’m planning on a 3-4 day trip to Sicily to visit the town my grandma was born in compobello di Licata. Needing advice on where to stay, how to get to the small town, and which airport to fly into and out of. All advice is welcome!
Assuming you mean Campobello di Licata near Agrigento. Spelling is important or you can mess up searches. Either airport would probably work, depending more on the convenience of flights. What we did for a similar visit to a small village was hire a private tour guide (through Viator) who drove us from our hotel to the village and back, and helped with searching records, addresses, etc.
Agrigento is a nice city, near the Valley of Temples. But your question should probably be how are you going to get around Sicily. I haven't seen it, but Rick Steves has a brand new guidebook for Sicily that might help your planning.
