What is the area like around the train station? We leave at 10pm on the night train and have two kids with us.

It's a mixture of residential and small businesses, cafes, bars, etc. The station itself is quite small, a commuter stop, really, altho there is a small waiting room and restaurant bar. It should be pretty quiet when you get there. Go to maps.google.com, switch on the satellite view, and copy and paste these coordinates into the address bar (43.777492821681044, 11.276167631149292) and you'll get an overhead shot of the station and the area. Then drag the little yellow "street view" icon onto that point, and you'll get a ground level view....just like being there!
