hi. i have 2 questions. one is if anyone has had experience with the campgrounds in venice, rome, or the ct... i really want to save but does the ride time and cost make it not worth saving a few euros? im not too concerned with the actual campsite because im not expecting much. in florence we will be staying at camping michealangelo because of the views (and we will save a little). i know staying in the city can beexpensive (especially venice!) but if camping is a big hassel do you have reccommendations of decent hostels? i would like to spend less than 20 euros a night (which i know is not much but thats why we might be camping. i know ill probably spend a little more for venice but rome and ct hopefully will be under. is it true that the termini are is scetchy at night? i want to be able to come back after dark and feel safe. my second question is wheter i should make a reservation soon for a night train from milan to paris on july 31/aug first. id like to wait till we get there in case plans change but dont want it to be booked and lose a day in paris!
Christy,
My husband and I leave on Tuesday for a month long trip to Italy. We will be staying at campsites the whole time (except for Rome where we booked a monastary). We're averaging 21.50 Euros per night for the two of us. We did a similar trip last summer in England, Scotland and Ireland. I know we saved tons of money since there is two of us. Hostels tend to be about the same price if there is just one traveler, but as soon as you add another person, camping is much cheaper. We're staying at 10 different campsites all around Italy. If you're interested in the places we've chosen, send me a private message and I'll be happy to share our info with you.
I don't know about the night train.
Good luck.
