I am going to take the Campania Express from Pompeii to Sorrento. I saw when I typed in Campania Express I can purchase tickets online. It directs me to the website "Sorrento insider". This site then takes me to the Campania Express site. To book the train ticket It then says "book.distribution.com. Are these legitimate sites? They look legitimate.
I also see the
EAV srl https://ots.eavsrl.it › web › public › ots › ticket
Do you have to register for this site before you buy a ticket?
Will the Sorrento insider and the EAV site both work to buy tickets?
That's the website, but I don't think you can book it in advance from Pompeii. Only from Naples and Sorrento. The advantage of the express is that from those two locations you get preboarding and guaranteed a seat. From Pompeii is just another commuter train and will be no faster than the Circumvesuviana train.
I went into the Campania Express site and my date was available. It said on the website (See below my information)
But when I pressed Complete your purchase nothing happened. I checked the box for one way but I noticed it says round trip. I also put the time I wanted to depart from Pompeii. Why can't I pay for my one way ticket?

I also selected the Campania Express (one way) - € 15,00
Why is the site payment not working for me?
Did you register on the site?
Have you tried emailing the site for assistance?
Nobody here can tell you why it’s not working for you
Or just take the Circumvesuviana
Why do you need the Campania Express? Will you have luggage?
How are you getting to Pompeii?
Transportation in that part of Italy just doesn't work so well, so don't expect an organized business model. You may never receive a response. The locals say " Thats just the way it is here."
There's only one set of tracks on much of the route, so I'm not sure there's much advantage to the Campania Express. If the Circumvesuviana starts running late , all the trains behind it run late. The tunnels have one set of tracks. Once the trains get off schedule, the trains wait to get through the tunnels. There seem to be lots of tunnels.
No mode of transportation is efficient in this area, it's all rather chaotic. Moving about takes time and patience.
But once you accept the realities on the ground, and bring lots of patience, you'll have a great time in this beautiful area. Safe travels!
Has anyone got tickets online for the Campania Express through ots.eavrs.it or through the Sorrento Insider website www.sorrentoinsider.com
Is the Sorrento Insider a legitimate site?
Sorrento Insider is a legitimate site
I don’t believe they sell tickets to anything
Most people take the Campania Express from/to Naples /Sorrento so I doubt you’llfind anyone here that has used it to get to/from Pompeii
That is what the Circumvesuviana is for
If you tell us why you are desperate to use Campania instead maybe we can advise
It may be that tix can only be purchased at the station
Are you in Sorrento or Naples before this Pompeii day? You can get Campania tickets in person at either train station ahead of time
I’ll be at Pompeii with a 2 hr. tour and then see the sight on my own afterwards. I am very interested in art and archeology.
I understand the Campania train is air conditioned and I will more likely get a seat. I will be in the sun and heat all day. I’m in good shape but I am 76 years old and would like to have a seat and enjoy air conditioning on the train. That is why I want to get tickets for the Campania train.
I will be in Sorrento during the early evening before my visit to Pompeii. That would be a good time to purchase my ticket at the station.
Ok
Fingers crossed the AC is actually working
Good luck!
Hi all - I'm also looking to purchase train tickets between Sorrento and Pompeii. I've searched the Campania Express and the Sorrento Circumvesuviana website for tickets, and I don't see any times earlier than 10A available. Do they only sell certain times online and do people have an easy time buying tickets same-day? I saw the timetables offer earlier times than 10A.
Apologies if this has been previously answered in a thread - first timer to Italy here.
Walsham22 the Circumvesuviana train runs every half our starting at about 5:30am. No need to book in advance, it's a regular commuter train like catching a subway. The ticket office is on the track level to the right as you're facing the building. I'd recommend buying your return ticket at the same time as a convenience. It's not a timed ticket. Here's the schedule. https://www.sorrentoinsider.com/en/naples-to-sorrento-train-schedule click on the Sorrento to Napoli tab..

Not necessarily from Pompeii. Once it leaves Sorrento or Naples is just another train on the line that people get on and off at every stop. Air conditioning... yes... if it's working. I did read last year that the Circumvesuviana trains were being replaced with modern trains that will have air conditioning. I have no idea though if that's happened yet.
I second Allan's comments. Crowds of tired folks are waiting at Pompeii Scavi for the train to Sorrento. Any train that comes into Pompeii Scavi, ( usually late) heading for Sorrento will be overwhelmed with the hoards getting on.
We experienced this in May, 2023. We had been on our feet all day at Pompeii. It was in the 80's already in May. All we got was standing room, shoulder - shoulder, in the train entry. And since the train was late , it lost its spot in line for the single- track tunnels, so it took almost two hours - standing, no AC ( well the AC tried to work) - to get to Sorrento.
And- my husband didn't mask and brought Covid home from that ride.
Just delightful.
In retrospect, We should have paid the 100 euros for the private transport back to Sorrento, but we had no idea....
