Have you used this pass? in your opinion is it worth purchasing? does it cover transportation on circumvesuviana? or just in naples proper. departure imminent and wonder if i should purchase online because itinerary will not allow for purchase in naples as that will be our last day in the area. will be visiting pompeii, ercolano, paestum, naples archeo museum, cappella san severo.

It is worth it! I used a 3 day "the whole region" card for 27 euros and used it for admission to the Naples Archeological Museum, transportation on the Circumvesuviana (did cover this!) between Naples and Sorrento then Sorrento to Pompeii and back. Used also for admission to Pompeii. Your first two sites are covered 100% and Rick recommends using it for the Naples Archeological Museum and Pompeii (the 2 most expensive)...if you use it for just these two locations and the train back and forth, you will have saved money. Your other destinations are discounted after your first two attractions are free. They do have a 7 day region card, but that one doesn't include the transportation, so it's up to you how you want to use it. I was going to buy my artecard at the Naples train station but forgot to, and was pleasantly surprised to find the artecard heavily promoted when I got to the Naples Archeological Museum and I was able to buy it there very easily and head right into the museum. I did Paestum as well, but after the artecard ran out...still worth it. Just focus on the Greek sections, since you will have seen a lot better quality Roman ruins elsewhere- Ercolano, Pompeii, etc than what's left at Paestum. Enjoy your trip!
