Campania Arte Card

I’ve just spent over 2 weeks in the Campania region of Italy and used an Artecard Lite extensively during that visit.

They are very easy to purchase now. Just go to the little “shop” (literally a desk in a small room) next to Tourist Information Office in Piazza del Gesu Nuova. It costs €26 and is valid for one entry to each site for 365 days. You get a pdf document on the spot (and they check to make sure you have it, no paper copies available). The document has a QR code that you show at the various museums, etc. No need to fluff around with apps, etc.

I’ve used it at about 10 places, including Pompei, Herculaneum, Caserta, Pozzouli, Paestum as well as Naples. You do not need to book a time for Pompei and there is a dedicated Artecard entry line at the Piazza Esedra entrance (a few minutes walk down the road from the station).

Note that this version of the Artecard does not include transport.

Wow, you saw a LOT!! Thanks for the update. We bought the Compania Arte Lite 365 card on-line last winter & ended up only using it for Pompeii & MANN, then fell sick. But the card was STILL cheaper than just 2 entrances! And the MANN museum had a line we were able to skip. BTW, if you're on a Pompeii tour, you can show ID at the entrance with the pass for one-time entry for a regular ticket, needed by your tour operator. Good info about the dedicated line at the other entrance! I'm so envious you got a chance to visit so many places!!

Some people complained about the app not working, we just took a picture of the code on our phones, no problem. More info here - https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/experiences-using-the-campania-arte-card-or-365-lite-card-in-naples-pompeii

This is a very old observation, but in pre-online days, we gave up on buying at the Naples main rail station, because there was only one sale counter with the Arte Card, and a long, slow line of clueless tourists. So we bought daily Circumvesuviana tickets at the newsstand next to the Sorrento train station. Only cost one to three Euros back then.

My comment is about the Artecard, it has nothing to do with buying tickets on the Circumvesuviana and other EAV trains. But in any case, I caught EAV trains from Naples to and from Pompei, to and from Herculanium and to Sorrento (so 5 times), but never had any problem getting tickets as I started the trips from Porto Nolano and simply used the ticket machines, no queues and fares are still reasonable (€2.60, €3.30 and €4.60), but the trains are pretty old and basic, especially when compared to other EV trains eg to Caserta.
