Camogli, Italy

My husband and I are traveling to Italy in May... Rome, Florence, then Camogli Has anyone been there? We are staying at Hotel Cenobio Dei Dogi. Looking for any advice or comments from anyone who has been there. We will be there for 4 days. Things to do, restaurants, day trips...? It looks beautiful so we're very excited!

We were there about 15 years ago, so it would behoove you to cross check for up-to-date info. However, we had a fabulous meal at Ristorante Rosa. Be sure to eat pasta with pesto sometime during your stay. Also, of course, seafood.

We were staying in S. Margherita, which is very worth visiting. One day, we took a boat to Portofino, and spent half a day, after which we took a boat to S. Fruttuoso. Rapallo is also nearby, and a lovely town.

We loved Camogli. Took the boat to San Fruttuoso and Portofino, then walked from Portofino to Santa Margherita and took the bus from S. Margherita back to Camogli. Nice trip.

Be sure to note the correct spelling of Camogli. It's pronounced "kah-MOHL-yee" (no "g" sound). You don't want to practice saying it wrong.

Have a great time.

There are a number of sights to see. Basilica Minore di Santa Maria Assunta, Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Wood, Parochial Church of San Rocco, the tiny Dragonara Castle etc.. Don't miss the San Fruttuoso Bay.

Sue,
I was just there yesterday! Only for a couple of hours though, so we mostly were just walking around, enjoying the lovely views.

The foccaceria we went to (got focaccia and some sweets to snack on) was quite nice. My receipt shows the name ad REVELLO S.N.C., address of via Garibaldi 183. www.revellocamogli.com

You can walk to another coastal town, Recco, pretty easily. The train makes other cities quite accessible as well... Cinque Terre is somewhat close.

In Mid-May, there is a huge fish fry in Camogli that looks like it could be really cool to check out if you can.
