I find Rick's listing on Caminetto in Gitta interesting - this is the place where they come pick you up and drive you (10 minutes) to their restaurant. I'm wondering if anyone on this board has ever been there?
Do you have any other reccomendations? I'm only going to be in Varenna for 1 night (Sunday night) and Ristorante la Vista is closed. TripAdvisor is a mixed bag on some of his other recs.

My husband and I took a cooking class at Caminetto in Gitta in March and it was the highlight of our trip! We ate the food that we prepared for lunch but did not actually have an evening meal at the restaurant though the menu looks interesting. We loved Chef Moreno, the trip up the mountain is amazing, and the setting is spectacular. I'd give it a try though there are other good restaurants in Varenna as well.

Tiny, maybe 8 tables. Reservations a must.
If you love wine, Mario is the man to ask which will go with your meal.
I still dream of my meal there. Fabulous.
My wife and I stayed in Varenna in May and did dinner at Caminetto in Gitta,the dinner and friendliness of the owner chef were fantastic, when I go back We will dine there
