Has anyone visited this region? My dad would like to buy a small apartment in Italy and apparently this is an affordable area, but we can't really find much information from travelers. If you've been there I'd love to know more about it!
Yes, I can because we already have a place in Calitri ... the medieval side of town. We live in New Hampshire.

Thanks! I'd love to know more about it - nearby attractions, are there a lot of foreigners or is it mostly locals, what you like, dislike about it.
Thanks!
You can read all about our adventures there and see pictures in and around town and of our home at our blog site. I add to it monthly.
Find it at:

If you don't like one particular story, look in the archive and you're sure to find something you'll like because there are four years worth of them!
The town has 6000 full time residents and sits atop a plateau. There are people there from the UK, Ireland, US, Sweden, etc. who have bought places like we have.
I like the friendliness of the people most. This is real Italy, not a place like Rome, Florence or Venice. One drawback is that we do not have train service, only a bus line in town although we rent a car during our stays.
