The flight we are considering booking, departs from Rome early in the morning. Which means we will need to leave for the airport around 3 AM. Is it safe to take a cab at that hour in Rome? Which cab company would be safest?

Yes it will be safe to take a cab at that hour. Ask your hotel to book a taxi for you.

Fixed rate is 55 euros
Or consider staying at an airport hotel for super early flights
What time is your flight and where is it going?

At that ime in the morning your flight is certainly going to another European destination first. Be at the airport 2 hours before departure and it will be sufficient. Taxicabs are safe.
