cab from Rome Airport

Thinking about taking a cab from Rome Airport to City. We are four adults, about how much would a cab cost?

As Bob stated, it is a fixed price to the city core. If you luggage is reasonable four people can fit into one taxi. However, a couple of large suitcases per person with kill the deal.

I guess it went up; it was 40E last Sept. But it is a fixed price, and I strongly suggest you confirm this before putting your bags in the cab trunk. I did this on our trip, this was at the official cab stand at the airport. I say "40E flat rate, right?" and the guy says, "no, you pay the meter". I say I'm going to take another cab in that case, and all of a sudden its "ok, 40E".

Check out Rome Cabs for private car transfer. English speaking drivers meet you outside customs and give commentary on the way into Rome in a nice car. Costs a bit more than a taxi but worth it.

Yeah, the fixed rate went up to 45 euro. And it's 1 euro per bag after the first bag. That's it though. No extra fees, no gas tax, no per person tax, no meter fee, no nothing. Although a few times late at night taxi drivers have metered me from fiumicino anyway and it's shaved as much as gasp 5-6 euros off it. But anyway, 45- 50 euro / 4 is still cheaper than the DaVinci express, which doesn't take you straight to your hotel and the taxi drivers at Termini are the most crooked around! Have fun in bella Roma!

Another vote for RomeCabs. They are great. They meet you right outside the baggage claim area and hold up a sign with your name on it. They use air conditioned comfortable cars and are very professional and courteous. Our flight was 5 hrs late and I was worried that our driver would not be waiting but he was there! The driver even pointed out various things of interest to us. They cost the same amount if not only a few euros more than a cab.
