C-T lodging

In May my wife and I (50 yrs old) will be driving from Genoa to Pisa planning to spend a couple days in C-T. I am looking for suggestions on where to stay given that we have to park the car and then get to the hotel. Normally I would be looking for a $$ Db. Any other suggestions re. places to eat, things to do etc. would also be welcome. Thank you!!

I recommend you contact Mar Mar in Riomaggiore. On their website is an option to inquire about accommodations. If you fill that out advising what you are looking for and on which dates, they will email you back with a list, including honest descriptions, of the places available. Mar-Mar is basically an agency that rents out private apartments in Riomaggiore so they are a great resource.

If you also need parking, they have parking spots available. Their website says it is for ten euros per day, and reserve early as spots are limited.

You might want to reconsider the car from Genova if you are picking it up there and wait till you are done in Pisa to get the car.

Genova to the CT and the CT to Pisa are easy on the train and you don't have to worry about parking.

Ron is really correct. There is absolutely no need for a car if you are going to the CT and then to Pisa. First, the train stops right in the center of each of the towns. Tourist cars are not permitted. You step off of the train, walk 100 feet or so and you're on the main streets. Second, there are lots of trains from the CT to Pisa. If you need a car for travel beyond Pisa, pick up the car in Pisa.

If you don't have your heart set on a "hotel" you can try http://www.acasa5terre.it
They have apartments in most of the towns.
We have one reserved for a few days in July. They have been very easy to work with.

Try this website http://www.labaiadirio.it It may be closer to parking than some of the others in Riomaggiore. We have yet to stay there but it was recommended to us, a commanding view of the sea & the town. Back in 2006 we stayed at a place near the harbor from Edi's rooms. Good people, recommended by Rick Steves. I always tell people not to overlook Riomaggiore. It is my favorite of the 5 towns. Vernazza has all the sights (bells & whistles) but it is busier with an active night life. Very scenic. Manarola is also wonderful. There is a GREAT focaccia place in Manarola. A small little to-go place and inexpensive. Probably the best place to eat in all of the CT, in my opinion, is Micky's in Monterosso. A spendy treat. Reservations required. Well worth it. La Lanterna in Riomaggiore was also good. Everyone should take the easy stroll on the Via Del Amore, the paved path along the sea between Riomaggiore & Manarola. About a mile in length. Molto romantico!

Hello, just want to point your attention to this site about the Cinque Terre. It contains helpful information such as touristic guide, hiking maps and descriptions, pictures and video. Hotel and B&B accommodations and booking on line.
And this is a good B&B in Manarola
