Any place in the provinces of Siena or Arezzo will work. See here: www.Borghiditoscana.net The Umbria region is also within reach, particularly Perugia, Assisi, Spello and also Orvieto.
Since you like Arezzo, the LFI rail line goes from Sinalunga to Arezzo and all the way to the Casentino Valley. Americans have not yet discovered the Casentino (Rick Steves hasn't gone there yet), so give it a try. Poppi is a nice town, but also Stia and Bibbiena. The Monastery of Camaldoli in the Casentino National Forest is very famous. And so is the Sanctuary of La Verna, where San Francis received the stigmata. Tuscans make fun of the Aretino dialect, so you need to learn some words. When in Arezzo you must learn to say ALO'. It means "let's go" or "come on". It's pronounced like the Hawaian Aloha, but without the final "HA". Just Alo'. It derives from the French "Allons". Aretino say one Alo' for every 5 words in a sentence.
