Buying train tickets in Venice

Hi - does anyone know if I can buy rail tickets anywhere other than the station in Venice? We are arriving by flight and leaving by train 4 days later, and I would like to buy tickets the day we get there. We will be staying at a hotel near San Marco Piazza and I am hoping we can avoid going all the way to the station just to buy tickets. Thank you!

You can buy train tickets at some travel agencies in Venice. The one I saw was near the train station. But, there should be others. Look for the Trenitalia logo in the window as some travel agencies may be cruise and plane. Check with your hotel. They should know the closest place to buy train tickets.

You can buy at a travel agency near San Marco. Rick mentions it in the guide, but there would be a fee. You can buy online before you travel or even enroute. You are given a "PNR" which you have to show to the conductor. I had to buy tickets mid-trip and did so online, saving the email receipt on my tablet PC to show to the conductor. You can also get a mini fare if you buy in advance for a high speed train.

Thank you. Do you know if it is possible to buy train tickets at the airport? We will be going by train from Venice to Florence and then to Pisa airport. Thank you for our help.

Do what Laurel says and book your Venice-Florence tickets on the Trenitalia site well in advance (up to 90 days allowed) to get a 2nd class Mini fare as low as €34.00 on a high-speed EuroStar Italia train. Those trains run about once an hour. There is one InterCity train each day for which the 2nd class Mini fare is only €12.00, but the ride takes 90 minutes longer. There is no advantage to buying tickets from Florence to the Pisa airport in advance. You will be on a regional train with open seating and no reservations are possible. The 2nd class fare is €5.90.
