Can I buy Leonardo Express train ride tickets at the station (Rome airport or Rome Termini station) instead of reserving ahead? Or is this not recommended?
Yes- no need to purchase in advance- it's like a regional train- price never changes, can't sell out.
Buy tix at the kiosk, window or on the app.
Hi, have the Trenitalia app downloaded ahead of time and purchase it with the app when you arrive. You will save a lot of time. The kiosks had long, long lines when I was there in May at the Rome airport both times - mainly because people with jet lag are trying to-figure out how to change the language, what they want to buy and how to pay.
Yes, you can buy at the station. However, I’d recommend having the app ready to purchase. We were there yesterday and all the ticket machines stopped working so you either had to do the counter or app. The app worked great.
Thank you, all.
Do they do security checks, maybe forming a long line, before boarding this train at the airport station?
If so, do they have security checks at other stations, like at Rome Termini station?
I am trying to see how early I should arrive at the station.
When we were there in 2023 after clearing airport arrival security you just follow the signs to the train, got a ticket ( we used the kiosk) and walked onto the train. It was the same with catching a train to Venice. The ticket machines seemed harder to understand for our options so we went to a manned ticket booth . There wasn’t any security that we saw ( other than some policemen) , no lines or machines.
Thank you!
