Rick Steve's book says to go to opapisa.it to order tickets to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa. That site does not allow you to order tickets. There is another website listed as boxoffice.opapisa.it but this one requires you to give your passport number to order tickets. Does anyone know if this is a legitimate/safe site? Do we really have to give our passport number to order tickets? Thanks!

We bought tickets that morning in the Field of Miracles. As soon as we got there we bee lined (didn't even stop to take pictures) to the ticket booth closest to the entrance (behind the street sellers) and bought our tickets right away. We only had about 45 minutes to wait. (and there's lots to see and obligatory "hold up the leaning tower" pictures to take.) You can go through whichever other sites you want to go through while you wait as well.

Su, it looks like you get to boxoffice.opapisa.it from a direct link from the opapisa.it site. I would imagine that the site is legit. It is rather odd that you would have to give your passport number though.
