Buying tickets for Doge Palace and also accademia

I want to skip the lines whenever possible. Doge Palace, for e.x. I've found the Accademia info a bit confusing as to when to purchase tickets and whom to purchase them from. To avoid lines, when should I purchase these and from where? We are leaving for Italy in a month.

Also, we will be in Florence for such a short time, 2 nights but only 1 full day. Our priority is to see the statue of David, then the Duomo. My 12 year old daughter will be with us and that is probably plenty for for her, hearty traveler though she is, do you recommend adding anything on to our day or would it be better spent wandering around after we've hit Accademia and duomo? She has a fleeting attention span to art, but she can look at and marvel over architecture all day.

Susan, this is the official website for Accademia tickets:

The Accademia may be enough art for your daughter, and I'd be sure to include the Baptistry at the Duomo. For an interest in architecture, here are some highlights I'd suggest including in your walkabout:

Ponte Vecchio (exterior of bridge)
Ospedale degli Innocenti/Piazza della Santissima Annunziata
Loggia dei Lanzi/Piazza della Signoria
Basilica San Miniato al Monte/Piazzale Michelangelo

San Marco is very close to Ospedale degli Innocenti/Piazza della Santissima Annunziata and is a favorite of mine but it closes rather early in the afternoon during weekdays, and has some other weekend/Monday closures:

"Open from 8:15 am to 1:50 pm Monday through Friday
Saturday,Sunday and Holidays 8:15 am-4:50 pm
Closed 2nd and 4th Monday and 1st-3rd-5th Sunday of each month"
