TIM and Vodafone are two popular service providers. Check their plans online to see what you may need such as data, calls,texts, roaming etc. use google maps to fine a shop near your lodging. Remember to bring your passport.

There are stores at Termini Station, both TIM and Vodafone last I knew. The TIM store is up on a mezzanine so you have to search for it.
