Buying rail time table in Italy.

Can you buy Italy rail timetable anywhere in Italy? We are leaving at the end of March and won't have time to order the Thomas Cook Timetables. We'll be landint in Venice.

Pamela, before leaving the States, I print the timetables using the DB rail site right here on Rick Steves' website. You can access it by using "Plan your trip" listed at the top. I usually have an idea of the date we'll be travelling and in what direction and I always print off the schedule with many possible departure times. I also print the schedule showing all of the train stops so we know the stop before ours--we want to be ready. Hope this helps a bit. Before this info was available on the internet, we did buy a huge train timetable book in Great Britain. I couldn't wait to give it away at the end of our trip. Have fun!

I'll add a few details to Denise's very helpful post about using the DB site. Go to www.bahn.de and click on the drop-down flag menu for English. After you get summary timetables for point A to point B, click on the arrow to the left of each departure time to see the connecting points, if any. Click on "Show intermediate stops" for each route if you want that extra bit of detail. Finally, click on the "Print view" link on the right-hand side of the page. Print the timetables.
