Buying Last Supper Tickets

Hi Everyone

I thought I’d share my experience with buying tickets for the Last Supper. Hopefully someone can use the information.

  1. The website to use is https://cenacolovinciano.org/en/ and tickets go on sale quarterly, every March, June, September and December. I wasn’t sure when in the month, so I started checking daily, starting March 1. On March 17th, the notice popped up that tickets would go on sale March 18th at noon Milan time. I thought I would have a bigger lead time. It’s a good idea to have an account with them well before as you need to sign in to your account to buy anything.
  2. Woke up at 3:30 am Tuesday morning to get ready for 4:00 am. I’m on the west coast and Milan is 8 hours ahead (currently). I double/triple checked to make sure I don’t get mixed up with Daylight Savings Time. I also checked my keyboard and mouse to make sure I had enough battery so I didn’t have any surprises of something going out. I did worry that this would be the day that our internet would not work.
  3. On the first page, there is an area that says Visit the Last Supper, so I clicked there. It is this page that you can sign into your account. I wasn’t sure if this was the page to sit and wait, or do I click the little picture with the hand holding the ticket, so I opened that webpage as well. It turns out that this was not the right one, as I was diverted to a summary of transactions on my account just minutes before the opening. Since I had both pages opened, I went back to first one. About 5 minutes before 4:00 am, the page flipped to a Queue. It was here that you can see a green bar with a little man walking left to right to indicate how long you have to wait until you can enter the site. It also tells you have 15 minutes to enter, and approximately how long your wait is. I think this queue is only for the first day of ticket release. I need to be more patient.
  4. At 6 minutes past the hour, my page flipped back to the original one and I clicked the picture with the hand holding the ticket. I was diverted to another page that had a small calendar. It said I had 30 minutes to complete the transaction. It also had one of those captcha things where I had to pick all the squares with motorcycles. Then it went to another captcha, same idea. I got thru those and then was able to flip the calendar to my month, day and time. Already, my desired time was not available and the one I picked said only 8 tickets available (no Engish tour times were showing which I think are 9:30, 11:30, 15:00, 17:00 and 17:30). I clicked the time and was moved to the next page.
  5. This is the page where you get to pick the number of tickets and type of ticket. I did not spend a lot of time here, just picking the first option, full price one. I did not look at my options as I was worried about time. It was also here that I needed to click some check boxes agreeing to their policies etc. Hitting confirm sent me to another page. 1. This is the cart page, where it lists the tickets in your basket. It is also the area where you need to enter your names. There is small icon of a crossed out head that you need to click and enter first and last names for each individual. Once done, you can again hit confirm. I think this also where it asked how you want to pay, and I think credit card was the only option.
  2. Finally on your credit card info page. Enter the details here and also agree to their policies by checking the boxes. I was told to have multiple credit cards at this stage in case something doesn’t go. Once I hit continue, I was taken to yet another page with the dreaded spinning wheel, “processing”. This took forever, probably at least 5 minutes and this is when I started to worry. Luckily, I finally got a message saying all was okay and that I would be receiving an email shortly.
  3. In the email, there is a link to download the tickets, which I did. I also printed them and plan to take them with me, even though the ticket says “Do not print, show tickets on your phone”, right below the little picture that says cellphones are not allowed. I thought that was kinda funny.

Anyways, total process took about 20 minutes, with no hiccups and I have my two tickets, albeit not for the time I wanted. Victory !!!! Some of the info might be a bit mixed up, it was 4 in the morning afterall. And big thank you to a previous poster from a year ago that provided much of the same info.

Warren,

Thanks for sharing your experience with booking your Last Supper Tickets.
Your detailed information will be very helpful to others.

It looks like the website’s booking system has changed drastically since I booked my tickets back in 2018.

This point is imperative:

It’s a good idea to have an account with them well before as you need to sign in to your account to buy anything.

Happy travels!

Edited to add…

Take heed to this information found on the Last Supper Website:

TICKET COLLECTION INFORMATION
As tickets are individually named, all visitors have to go to the ticket office in person to activate their ticket.
This is the procedure you need to follow: ID or passport control, ticket activation, drop off of bulky bags and backpacks in the lockers provided.
The ticket office is located 10 meters to the left of the main entrance of the Museum.
Tickets must be activated 30 minutes before the time of your visit, otherwise you will risk losing the right to access the Museum.

FYI: There are only a few lockers available so it’s best to avoid taking bulky bags and backpacks.

I reserved my ticket earlier today. It seemed a little jolting to get warning about the 30 minute limit for completion of the transaction. Luckily, I already had a login/password for vivaticket. But the entire process was straightforward. Just a word of warning when doing the credit card payment, don’t fall for DCC when you get two choices to pay in EUR or pay in your home currency.

I had trouble using my older but dependable iPad. Three times the purchase got stuck. I switched to my husband’s newer laptop and the purchase was easy.

Thanks so much for the post! I had been checking every day to see when June was opening up and had not seen it was today!! I was able to sign up and book my tickets with an English guide in about 10 minutes. Very smooth process. All of the non guided tickets were gone!

A huge thank you Warren. This is exactly what I was looking for. My husband just booked a trip for us to the Lakes in September. We'll be arriving and leaving via Milan by train, so this is perfect. You've been bookmarked.

I too booked tickets to see The Last Supper in May when the bookings opened up on 18March2025. Everything that Warren has written was my experience as well. But I want to emphasize one point he made. After you have made all your choices and entered your CC number, the "dreaded spinning wheel" seems to go round and round forever. I've never tried to buy tickets at any other site where it took so long to get a message saying that the transaction had gone through. I did not time it, but it probably took a good 6-7 min for the wheel to stop spinning and tell me that I had been successful in purchasing the tickets. So my advice is to exercise patience and wait out the spinning wheel!
