I don’t want to buy from a 3rd party. Is there any way to buy directly on line? Planning on seeing painting on Sat, Sunday or Monday, Aug 29, 30 or 31, 2020. Are they even open on those Sun or Mon? If not, what can we do in Milan that’s scenic those 2 days. Only plan on being in Milan 29-31.

Can't help with the tickets, but other points of interest in Milan are the magnificent Duomo (that would be #1), the historic Vittoria Emanuele II shopping gallery and the Brera district. I am sure Milan has multiple good museums, but I've never researched them.
Bergamo is a good side-trip by train. It's a town with a very atmospheric hill-top historic district.

It is way too early for August; they are only booking through April at this time. They release several months at a time and announce the date in advance, so keep checking back. February, March and April were released on December 11. I was watching for our date in March and careless missed the announcement, so did not check until Dec. 13, 2 days later. Fortunately I was able to get tickets for the 9:30 am English tour. Sometimes they sell out completely on the release date, as tour agencies buy them up.
Register on the website and keep looking. If you are booking the English tour, you book the entrance time and the tour separately (the tour is an extra 3 euros or so).

I purchased at 3:30 this morning when the May/June window opened. They have a queue to limit traffic so the site isn't overwhelmed. Hop on 15 to 20 minutes early and you should be on the site when the purchase window opens. I tried to get on after my purchase, and the wait was 25 minutes.
