We arrive at 9:05 am in Milan on Monday, March 2. Our plan is to take the Milan Express to Centrale, and then a high-speed to Florence. I used to buy our tickets ahead of time, giving us PLENTY of time to get through immigration etc, but found we wasted a lot of time at the train station waiting for our train (after discovering the tickets we bought couldn't be changed). So the last few times, we've just bought our tickets at the moment we needed. But this time, the Paralympics will be happening in Milan, so now I'm concerned about trains selling out. So...
Am I overly concerned about possible sellouts? While Milan is the 'big' city, it seems like attendees are pretty spread out across northern Italy.
If you recommend buying tickets ahead of time, how can I make sure I get ones that can be changed? It looks like Flex or Economy are both possibly changed? But I should probably reserve a seat, right?
Thank you for any advice. My brain tends to be very sluggish after the overnight flight!
