We're looking into purchasing tickets from Seattle to Italy this October but wanted to know if there's a window of low-fares to keep an eye out for. I know Tuesdays can offer "sales" but should we purchase now for fall travel or wait a bit more? Any professionals out there?
I am traveling to Italy this coming August 31st and will probably be stopping in Frankfurt for a few days before heading to Venice for a few days before starting a RS 14-days Village Italy Tour. I have been watching air fares since late last year to try to get a feel for pricing - it has been all over the place so far. I go to Europe every summer for about a month and if I am connecting shortly to a RS tour, I tend to purchase my tickets at least 6 months ahead of time. This year, with some free time before the tour starts, I will likely wait until Spring to purchase those tickets. I tend to watch all of the consolidator sites as well as the airline sites at least weekly if not more often - but then I am retired and have lots of time for the computer search. I have read all kinds of suggestions as to when is the best time to buy, from on Tuesday or Wednesday, to 5 1/2 months prior to flying. As someone who is willing to pay for a non-stop flight from Seattle to Europe rather than save some by stopping in the US (I went thru Chicago years ago and "Never Again"). my choices from Seattle are limited. Send me a PM if you have any suggestions that may help us both. aloha charlie
