buying a train ticket through Trenitalia

I'm trying to buy a ticket from Ventimiglia to Vernazza, travel date is June 17th. I see the departure/arrival times I want but when I try to buy the ticket it requires that I log in. SInce I have not registered I tried to register but it requires an Italian address. Does anyone know if there is a way to by pass this registration requirement? Thanks Sherry

Your trip is a combination of IC and regional trains or only regional trains. There is no monetary advantage or other advantage to buy regional tickets on line. You can easily buy regional tickets in Italy. Regional tickets bought on-line are only valid for four hours.

If your desired travel time is a combination of IC and regional trains, use Trenitalia's address as your Italian address!

You dont need to register. Just check the box to use the site as a guest. No address needed. You can buy the IC portion of your trip online and just get the regional portion once in Italy.

Thanks. Last night I left off the regional train and bought the others (1) Ventimiglia to Genova Piazza Principe) and (2) Genova Piazza Priniciple to Sestri Levante without registering. I got a confimation screen which provided me with a retieval code but never got the email with the PNR or CP codes. I made a copy of the screen confirmation so I have that but am afraid that it won't be enough once we get to the station. I also tried using the SMS function but didn't get a text either. I think that is because I only entered my area code and number. Do you know how I can retrieve my electronic tickets or will the screen confirmation with the trip details be enough?

There should be a retrieval number on the confirmation that you printed. You can go to the Trenitalia website under the 'Purchase' tab select 'Manage your ticket' then on the next screen select 'retrieve your booking' in the box. You can retrieve your reservation without needing to 'log on' so you can have your e-ticket e-mailed to you. You may enter any e-mail address. Just make sure your e-mail address does not end in '.net', but is a '.com' address. I went through this just last week: I could never get my electronic ticket until I used an e-mail address ending in .com. Once I entered it, I got my e-ticket within 2 minutes.

You must have this e-ticket because it will have your PNR number on it which is REQUIRED for travel.

Good Luck!

Thanks, you are a genius. I tried by work email address but it is a .org address. After reading your suggestion I used my daughter's .com address and everything worked perfectly. Thanks a million!

I too am trying to purchase tickets on the trentitalia site. they are for Sept 2014. I get the schedule, the seat selection, then the choice for c/c but then I continue and it defaults to looking for tickets again. Am I too early for purchasing ticket for Sept.
Thanks
