Does anyone have recent experience buying a cell phone in Italy? I'd love to hear about it - where you bought it, how much it cost, how much airtime you got, rates, etc. Thank you! (PS - I know all the basics already, and that its possible to buy one for around 80 Euro - just looking for some more specifics.)
Is it OK to answer my own question?
I used google to search through this list of questions and came up with a post from last year that referred to buying a phone for 39 Euro. I found the TIM website, which has many stores in Italy, apparently, and here's a link to their cheapest phone, which is still 39 Euros, including 5E of talk time.
Anyone know if there is a TIM store in the airport or train station in Florence?
There is a TIM store in Terminal A of the Rome airport, but it appears to be in the shops after security check-in. There's another at Termini train station, but none at Florence station. I found a complete list of stores on the website you posted. There's a Smartphone shop in the Terminal B arrivals area, but I haven't been able to find any information about the shop or phone deals they may offer.
