bus transportation from Sienna train station to town ctr

we will be arriving Siena via train. we have RS Italy 2011-its nebulous re how to navigate any experince or recommendations

You can actually walk to the town but it's about a mile and it's a bit uphill. There is local bus transportation or you can take a quick taxi.

I used google maps to see the bus routes to pick from. Put in your starting and ending destination and choose public transportation. The most confusing part is finding the bus stop at the train station. It is in the mall across the street and we needed to go up and down a couple of escalators to find it. Buy your ticket in a Tobacco shop and validate when you get on. For example bus 10 will take you to V.F. Tozzi station in about 10 minutes. Have fun!

You might be looking at the wrong paragraph in the RS Italy 2011 book. See page 529, the section called "By Train", second paragraph that starts "To get from the station to the city center by city bus...." and he lays it all out for you. Happy travels. Siena is beautiful.
