Bus ticket advise

We will be taking the SENA bus from Rome to Siena, then Siena to Florence in October. Do we need to buy our tickets ahead of time online, or are we OK buying the tickets when we arrive in Rome 3 days earlier? (I don't want to expect to buy them there only to find that it's sold out.) We will arrive via fast train at the Tiburtina station, so it wouldn't be out of our way to buy bus tickets upon arrival. But, is it easier to buy the tickets online rather than trying to navigate the station or run the risk of a sellout? And if we buy them online, how does that work? I looked at the site and couldn't tell what would happen if I bought the tickets -- would I get a ticket to print, or would I get a code that I would show at the ticket counter to get the actual ticket? Please advise!

I don't know about Rome to Siena but I took the bus from Siena to Florence on a day trip. I bought my ticket at the bus office below piazza gramci the day before. That way I didn't have to wait in any line and just jump on the bus. I also bought a ticket for the ride back to Siena at the same time

I have bought bus tickets the day before and the same day of my trips. I like the day before because then I don't have to "worry". My husband finds it amusing.
