My wife and I will be traveling from Roma Tiburtina to Castel di Sangro in Abruzzo in mid - April. I know the Trenitalia website has train/bus combinations listed, but is there a website that shows the bus schedule from Tiburtina directly to Castel di Sangro? I suspect that direct bus service might be faster and less expensive. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
The links to bus schedules on Rome2Rio.com may be useful, I don't know which bus line runs to Castel di Sangro.
These are bus schedules I found by Googling; there could be others; two companies each running once daily:
Although two railroad stations exist in Castel di Sangro, the town is no longer served by passenger train. Service to the adriatic coast, provided by Ferrovia Sangritana, had been suspended in 2006. Trains from Sulmona and Carpinone, ran by Trenitalia, stopped running in 2011.
The only way to go is by bus, or Rome to Sulmona by train and then taking a bus. The road from Sulmona is nonetheless very scenic.
Thank you for the information and links.
Sincerely, KF
Sulmona would make a nice stop, if you have the time.
