Bus reliability in Chianti

I know everyone is encouraging us to get a car for the day but we do not feel comfortable with that. So we hope to take bus #365A from Florence to Greve on Saturday to enjoy the market. Then take a local #365C to Lamolo for lunch. There is one up at 11:30 and then back at 15:00. There would then be two options 15:24 and 17:00 for buses back to Florence from Greve. But I would hate for our day to be ruined by late or cancelled buses. Anyone have experience with this?

I never count on taking the last bus anymore, I've done it too many times and been stranded! (Not in Tuscany, however.)

My bus travel in Tuscany over the past few years has been uneventful (that's how I like it), buses are on time within a couple of minutes.

Be sure that the schedule is the same for Saturday as for Monday-Friday (it should be, but be safe rather than sorry).

I would exhort you to leave your fears behind and rent a car for the day. All offices open at 8am on via Borgo Ognissanti. Get full no deductible insurance. No chance of being photographed by ZTL cameras on exit.
When you return, drop the car at the airport, which stays open till 1130pm (city offices close on Sat afternoons).

We took the bus from Florence to Greve and back to Florence in Sept 2013. I believe it was on a Thursday. We had no issues and all went smoothly. Enjoy your day!
