Bus Primer?

Our last stop in Italy this fall will be Bergamo, flying out of Linate at 9:00.

Based on what I've read so far it seems reasonable to stay in central Milan the night before. Our worry is that while we've become accustomed to most forms of travel in Italy we've never used inter city buses. Can anyone point me to a resource that explains their use? (I'll accept that I may be over thinking this. It happens.) We do travel light but maybe a taxi would be better?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Is there a special reason you would like to take a bus? The website rome2rio.com is great for looking at transportation options from point to point. And in many cases has links to purchase tickets. Bergamo to Milan city center show both train and bus options. But bus it seems only from the Bergamo airport.

Sorry. I should have been more clear. We would take a train from Bergamo to Milan. As we normally stay in an AirBnB our concern is with getting from an apartment to Linate.

Why would you take an intercity bus from an apartment in Milan to Linate? If anything you would take a regular city bus. However, considering that you probably have luggage with you, the best option is to call a taxi. Linate is near the city center (5 miles), the taxi won’t be more than €35.

The City of Milan has a central taxi number +39 027777, although each taxi company has their own also.
You can also download the app.
Just Google MILANO IN TAXI and get the app.

For future reference, though it's unrelated to the getting-to-Linate situation: I take a lot of inter-city buses in Europe. Small buses used from regional towns to smaller surrounding places can be different, but buses used between major cities are normally modern, comfortable and well-equipped (not necessarily with a toilet, though). I actually like buses a lot for the ease of managing luggage; you just roll your suitcase to the side of the bus and lift it about one foot off the ground to put it in the hold. That's a lot easier than wrestling a suitcase onto a train and finding a place to stow it.

Thanks everyone. I think I had inter- mixed up with intra-city. Should have just stuck with city bus...
