bus or train from Siena to FCO

Ciao, everyone! I've been reading and enjoying the forum for several years without an account and finally decided to enter the discussion. My husband and I will be in Siena April 27 and leaving on Sunday, April 29. We originally thought we'd have to return to Florence and take the train back to Rome, but after a little digging I found that there are ways to take a bus from Siena directly to the FCO. We fly back to the U.S. from there the following day, April 29. Because it's a Sunday, there seem to be limited bus options, so I was wondering if anyone had experience with this or could direct me to the best source of information. Grazie!

There are plenty of buses from Siena to Rome, also on Sunday, not directly to the airport, but rather to the Rome Bus Station, located near the Tiburtina train station. From there you can take a train to the airport, or, if you stay your last night in Rome, you can take a taxi.

It’s probably more convenient than backtracking to Florence to take the train.

Thank you, Charlotte and Roberto! I've looked at both links and am still pondering. The bus from Siena to the airport seems to require a change in Grossetto and it's a little tricky to see if I am allowing enough time for the connection. The bus to Tiburtina picks up from several different spots in Siena so if I go that route, I'll check with our hotel, Palazzo Ravizza, to see which is better. Is is easy to go from Tiburtina to the airport? We will only be lugging one carry-on each but don't want to do that for very long!
Either way, do you know if there's an advantage in buying tickets online in advance, e.g. better price?
Thanks again to you and to anyone else who may have ideas to contribute.
