Does anyone know if the Hop on Hop off bus is still in service in Rome? The one that would stop at numerous places
throughout the city. I thought I read that it is no longer in service.
D
you read correctly.
all gone - no more
Seconding Quirite here: no more 110 Open or Archeobus as of last December. As he said, there are others but I'd scan reviews of any still operating very carefully: as with the two now out of business, most of them have seen significant numbers of unhappy tourists.
Hop on hop off buses: I had a negative experience with them and cannot recommend.
I used a ho-go bus once and it was not comfortable, informative, or helpful with orientation. Some people like them, though.
I think Quirite is correct, the main lines are running. But Rome is so easy to walk or take a city bus or taxi, I wouldn't bother with the ho-ho bus.
One year after 10 days in Sicily we arrived in Rome totally exhausted. The HO/HO bus was just the ticket. We only had to sit there and look at things. If you are tired or frail or have mobility issues, take the HO/HO bus and see the sights.
dmy,
I don't know if they're Hop On / Hop Off, but I believe the Red Bus tours are still in operation. I've used them in the past to both cover the main sights as well as give myself a rest from walking. The top deck is a good place to get photos above the crowds.
