The RS guidebook gives this website for information. Hope it helps.

According to the guidebook, it is a 65 minute ride and leave 1x/hour. Tickets are available in the arrivals hall or airport TI.

We haven't been to Padua before but will be there this fall. From what I've found, the bus from the airport takes you to Padova Fiat , which if true, appears to be a bit off the beaten track (or at least not close to the tram line). For this reason we are planning to get a bus to the Mestre train station and take the train to Padua. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

In March we purchased bus tickets for VCE to Padua at the ticket counter in the VCE arrivals hall. The bus stop was out the exit door and to the left. In Padua, the bus stopped a block or two from the train station (at the central bus "station"). We walked the short distance to the taxi stand at the train station, then took a taxi to our hotel. After we got our bearings in Padua we discovered we could have easily walked the 10 minutes between the station and our hotel--but a 7 Euro taxi ride was well worth it after arriving from the US!

in May before the start of our RS Village Italy tour we took the bus from Venice airport to the Padua bus station which is right next to the train station and walked over to the tram which is in front of the train station and took that to our hotel. We bought our bus ticket in the arrivals hall as described above. Here are the directions we got with our tour. Our hotel was Albergo Fagiano.

Venice Marco Polo Airport to Padua Train Station By Bus
Buses to Padua depart hourly throughout the day and the trip takes about an hour. A ticket costs around €8.50 from the machines at the platform outside of the Arrivals hall, or €10 if purchased from the driver. From there follow the directions “Padua Train Station to the Albergo Fagiano” below.

Venice Santa Lucia Train Station to Padua Train Station By Train
Trains depart for Padua at least twice hourly from Venice's Santa Lucia station. Purchase a ticket ("un biglietto") from the automated machines in the station or a ticketing window. Tickets typically cost between €4-€15, and the trip takes 30-45 minutes.
Overhead reader boards show train departure times and track numbers and you can always check with a conductor for clarification. Note that Padua is an intermediate stop, therefore the destination of the train will not be Padua. You must validate your ticket by stamping it in one of the machines located at the head of the platforms before you board or risk a fine. From there follow the directions “Padua Train Station to the Albergo Fagiano” below.

Padua Train Station to the Albergo al Fagiano

By Taxi
A taxi from the train station to the hotel will cost around €10.

By Tram and Foot
Purchase a tram ticket for around €1.50 from the kiosk outside the train station. Find the stop across the street from the station and to the right (with your back to the station), at the bottom of an elevated street. Ride the tram 5 stops to "Santo". Exit the tram, and with your back to the canal, walk to the far side of the little piazza across the street. Turn right and head down Via Locatelli. The Albergo al Fagiano is ahead on the left at #45.

Thanks everyone. This is great information and points out my shortcoming of relying solely on Rome2Rio.
