What are your experiences daytripping from Trieste? Interested in the Slovenian caves in Skocjan as well as wineries. Also,
does anyone have any direct experience with taking a bus from Trieste to pula or rovinj in Croatia? I'm assuming it would be worth one overnight. Planning to spend 2-3 nights in Trieste and can also afford a night in Pula or Rovinj.

Traveling from Trieste will be by bus or rental car; there is not good train service across that border. Don't count on any buses on Sundays. I personally only took the bus as far as Portoroz, which worked fine. Slovenia's portion of the coastline is very short, but Piran is the star of that area.
I was hoping for info about day trips via bus - For example an organized day-trip tour to the caves, or other well-worn path.
