Bus from Siena to Milan

Where can I find schedule for buses from Siena to Milan? I found some on sena.it, but is that it or are there competitor companies?

Just curious, why would you use a Bus on that route rather than travelling by train?

Buses pick up in the center of the town, train station is further out. Buses go straight to Milan, on trains, I believe, you need to switch in Florence (?).

You are correct, but traveling via train will get you to Milan faster than the bus.

You can take the bus (or train) from Siena to Florence, then transfer to a Freccia train (high speed) to Milano Centrale.

Check here for train schedules:http://www.trenitalia.com

Faster, but not that MUCH faster. Plus, bus companies have promotional prices where cost of the trip is as low as 1 euro (but only if I manage to buy the ticket online, it seems that the system only allows eu citizens to do so(?)).

Thanks for the additional information.

On that particular route, I'm not clear on whether you're looking for the cheapest or the quickest method.

A good balance of cost vs time would be to take the Corse Rapide Bus from Piazza Gramsci in Siena to Florence (~1H:15M), walk a short distance to Firenze Santa Maria Novella and then take the high speed Freccia train to Milano Centrale (1H:40M). If you were to buy advance tickets for the Freccia train, that combination would also likely be the cheapest method. However one point to note is that the cheapest Super Economy tickets (€29 PP) are non-refundable and non-changeable, and they can ONLY be used on the one train, date and departure time. Most of the trains on that route are the FrecciaRossa, which travel at up to 300 km/h. Very hard for a Bus to match that!

For the high speed train from Florence to Milan, you could also use the competing Italo Treno service. However, be sure to note which of the stations it arrives at in Milan, as some trains use Milano Rogoredo station.

If you'd simply prefer to travel by Bus (~5 hours?) rather than train, that's your choice.

Till a couple of years ago no such bus existed - almost all buses were running within region boundaries. Now there are a few companies running long range buses. For example, I see fixbus running Siena to Milan, but in Milan they arrive at Lampugnano. I have an idea of where Lampugnano is and how to get to the city center, do you?

As the previous reply mentioned, the Buses might terminate at Lampugnano, which is not exactly close to Milano Centrale. However, that area is served by Metro so if your destination is close to Milano Centrale or Milano Cadorna, it should be relatively easy to get there. If going to Centrale, you'll use Metro line 1, and transfer to line 2 at Milano Cadorna. If you're going to the area around the Duomo and Via Dante, you can access that from Milano Cadorna.
