Bus from Siena to Florence vs train

Hi
There is a bus service from florence to siena that take about 1hour and 15 minutes. The ticket is about 8 € and the bus leaves almost every hour in the morning.
The website is tiemme bus.

buses leave Siena at 9:40 am and arrive in Florence at 11:15 am...

Tip: You must use the Italian name for Florence which is Firenze

You didn't say, but if you need to return to Florence in the evening, take the train.

Not sure about taking the train back?? If the bus takes you to a convenient drop off the train would be less so as its down hill. Involves an 11 escalator ride up or a cab ride unless you want to walk up the hill. You tube has a video of the escalator ride up in Siena(search).

Geri, the OP asked for Siena to Florence not the other way around but I'm curious, why not take the bus back to Florence at night from Siena? That was my plan in April.

I took the bus for a day trip from Siena to Florence. My hotel in Siena helped me get the bus schedule ahead of time and the times. I purchased my ticket the day before in Siena (at that time bus ticket office was under Piazza Gramci). We took the early bus to be in Florence for a morning walking tour. I think it was around 7:30 we left. We took a bus back around 14:00 to be back for a soccer game in Siena. If you know where you are staying you can always ask your hotel ahead of time for a bus schedule too.

If you are staying in the town center in Siena...take the bus. If you are dropping off a rental car or staying outside the walls the train may be a better option.

There are also buses and elevators at Siena train station to go up/down from the city.

My reply to take the train back to Florence is because the LAST bus back is at 18:05.
Trains run much later if you want to spend the evening in Siena.

According to http://www.busfox.com/timetable/?from=Siena&to=Firenze&date=17%2F04%2F2017&time=00%3A00 there is an 18:10, a 19:10, and the last one is at 20:30 to go from Siena to Firenze unless I'm reading it wrong. So 8:30 pm is the last bus from Siena to Florence at least from what I can tell from the schedule. That seems doable for a day trip from Florence, although the last bus has a transfer so that may not be the best solution. I probably will end up taking the train after Siena because I'm heading back to Rome after.

I have an interes in this information as I planned to take the lateset bus back to Siena after spending the dayin Florence.
I find a 7:10pm 131 Rapida Firenze Autostazione arrives at 8:25. pm. The actual time sited is 24 hour time, so 19:10-20:25 pm.
