Bus from Siena to Florence or Siena to Pisa

Looking for the earliest departure time from Siena to Florence (need to get to airport). Baffled by the schedule as not sure what station to enter for Siena - have read that stage bus service on 131R is the best choice. Is this correct? We are traveling in May on a Monday.

Another possibility would be to go from Siena to Pisa Airport (we don't have our air tickets yet but most flights leave early). Any suggestions please?

In general I would advocate for staying in the place you are flying out of the night before for any early flight. Siena to Florence is manageable but there is always the possibility of strikes, road or rail works or other things you can't control. What is your back-up plan when the way you were going to go isn't working?

The most direct way to Pisa is a train about 1:45-2:00 hours usually changing in Empoli. There is a 5:00am arriving at 7:32 and a faster 6:25am arriving at 7:51. The airport in Florence is close to the train station and there is a tram.

The station list for the 131R is here: https://www.at-bus.it/en/linee-e-orari/regionali-131r the FIRENZE AUTOSTAZIONE stop is near the train station and the tram for the airport.

Hope that helps,

Welcome!

Both routes will take about 2 hours with changes
I would not want to be that far from airport on departure morning
Most flights will be leaving quite early and you need to be there at least 2 hours prior ( ex: if your flight is at 8 am you would need to leave Siena by 4 am)
Train won’t be much faster

Once you book your flights you might want to change your plans and be IN your departure city night before flight
