We hope to take a day trip from Florence to Pisa and then on to Lucca. When leaving Pisa, does anyone know what the time schedule is for the bus that leaves for Lucca? The bus stop is behind the Baptistry. I read in the RS guidebook that there are hourly departures but it would be helpful to know the exact times. Also, where would I buy bus tickets? Thanks!!!
I don't know about buses, but there are trains at 25 and 55 past the hour from Pisa San Rossore station about a 5-7 minute walk from the Baptistry. 3.30 euro, buy at the station or vending machine, 22 minute ride.
Thanks Sam,
I would prefer to take the train but there doesn't seem to be one leaving between 10:25 and 12:25. Am I missing something?
You're right, must be railroad lunch break. Someone posted the bus website on the other similar thread yesterday.
Buses at 10:12, 11:12, 12:12. If you are there during school days there are additionl departures 10:42, 11:42. Its the Q03 VIA bus. Its a big file, but here is the full VIA schedule and information (in Italian).

If you're going to make Pisa and Lucca on a day trip, you'd really need to hit the road early--not any 10:00. I'd suggest getting out of town much earlier.
Good luck!
Brilliant Sam! I had tried reading that bus schedule but could make no sense of it. Thank you so much!
I'd suggest seeing these in reverse order. I went in 1989, so things may have changed. But Lucca was wonderful (I rented a bike and rode on top of the wall, which was magical). I then went got to Pisa in the afternoon, as the souvenir vendors were literally packing up, and the marble in the Field of Miracles was lovely in the afternoon light.
